The study of Anatomy in the field of medicine that deals with the adept understanding of molecular, cellular, and organization of the systems of a human body and the mechanisms that it uses biologically to help adapt to changes in the environment and fight diseases. These courses would help students have an understanding of one of the many basic medical sciences. It involves the understanding, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. There are three major subcategories, such as anatomy, pharmacology, and physiology. Anatomy is one of the major disciplines in medicine, it involves the study of different organisms and their parts. It can be branched into different aspects such as developmental biology, embryology, phylogeny, etc. Human anatomy is one of the most basic and essential sciences that are applied in the study of medicine.

The study on Anatomy is a research discipline that is of great significance as it paves way for the better understanding and working of the human body which would eventually help in research and the development of treatment facilities and methodologies of anatomy would involve initially having an understanding of these terms, such as anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, and biophysics. It would then move on to describe the structure of a human cell. Further, the studies would involve the classification of the various elementary tissues in the human body and their functions. This would lead to the study of various types of receptors that the human body encompasses. The course would then tackle the understanding of sensors for smell, sound, vision, osmolality, and taste. After this initial understanding of the fundamentals, the course would lead to understanding bioelectric potentials in cells, their transmission through nerve fibres, and identifying and differentiating the different EEG (electroencephalogram) electrodes. Anatomy is one of the basic medical sciences subdivided into categories such as macroscopic anatomy, gross anatomy, and microscopic anatomy. Gross anatomy or macroscopic anatomy deals with the types of anatomy that can be seen with naked human eyes and without the aid of any specific instruments. On the other hand, microscopic anatomy is the study of minute anatomical structures with the aid of a microscope.

The Doctor of Philosophy - Anatomy is a research disciple where the students can perform extensive studies on the topic after having completed their undergraduate studies. admission to this course is offered to candidates either with a valid MBBS degree after having completed undergraduate studies, certified from the Medical Council of India or any other of the state medical councils. This is a special course that enables the research is a fundamental building block in the pursuit of a career in different disciplines of medicine be it surgical or non-surgical specialities or in the movement towards research and clinical medicine. The students applying must also have research topics on hand and submit those applications along with the requirements to the institutes from which they will be screened and selected. There are plenty of job opportunities in this field of medicine, where those having completed this course can provide diagnosis attention in major diseases and consultancy for patients in major hospitals or health care centres. The course also paves the way for studies conducted for the understanding and treatment of various anatomical studies and innovations in this field of medicine.
