Surgery is an ever evolving science and amidst recent developments in surgical procedures, minimal invasive surgery is making rapid significance. This procedure is done by making small incisions instead of big incisions. The main benefits of making small incisions are less pain, less risk of infection, less scarring, reduced recovery time, and minimal blood loss. The opportunities for training in surgical procedure has increased over the last decades. Advanced robotic systems have enabled the specialists to perform less invasive and safer surgical procedures. There also exists the option of non-robotic minimally invasive surgery. These are known as endoscopic surgery or laparoscopic surgery. General surgery is also a subspecialty in surgery, primarily focusing on the abdominal disorders.
