A candidate shall possess a permanent registration certificate from the State Medical Council of the respective state when joining. Foreign Medical Graduates of other National Board Examinations taken in other countries would be eligible provided they have undergone both compulsory and elective rotatory internship as prescribed by the regulations of their respective Boards. The FCPS-SURGERY course is spread across six semesters with two semesters during the summer holidays. The FCPS-Surgery course imparts a comprehensive knowledge of modern Surgery and its specialist branches allowing each student to proceed to higher levels of training for specialisation in fields like Vascular Surgery, Oncology, Neurosurgery, Burn and Plastic surgery, Ophthalmology etc. After completion of FCPS-Surgery students are eligible to sit in the National Exit level examination conducted by the UPSC for joining the service as a military surgeon in the Armed Forces.
