A cardiovascular radiologist directs or performs and then deciphers clinical pictures to analyze illnesses of the heart.

Cardiac imaging is a subspecialty of diagnostic radiology. A cardiovascular radiologist directs or performs and then deciphers clinical pictures to analyze illnesses of the heart like coronary illness, leaking heart valves, aneurysms, and deformities in the size and state of the heart. A cardiac radiologist utilizes imaging procedures, for example, X-rays, ultrasound (echocardiograms), computer tomography, and MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) for these diagnoses. These tests are utilized to evaluate for coronary illness, figure out the underlying cause, get the indications, screen the heart, and confirm the success of the treatment process. Interventional radiology is a clinical subspecialty of radiology that uses negligibly intrusive image-guided methods to analyze and treat illnesses in virtually every organ framework. Endovascular treatment, which is an important region of study for this course is the understanding of minimally invasive procedures which are usually performed within the blood vessels and are used to cure arterial and cardiac diseases.

The course is designed to provide ample knowledge and extensive training for aspirants to be able to understand indications, select the appropriate diagnostic tool, come to accurate diagnosis and then direct the patient to appropriate treatment methods and management techniques. The course initially provides the student with ample training in basic medical sciences such as anatomy, where the student learns about the embryology of heart and blood vessels, the basic anatomy of the heart, vessels around and peripheral and visceral arteries, the blood supply of the heart and anatomy of the vascular system mainly related to the aorta and brachiocephalic vessels. It then studies other basic sciences such as physiology where basic and applied cardiovascular physiology and basics of hemodynamics in acquired and congenital cardiac conditions are studies and then the students are taught about pathology and microbiology systems, and then microbiology and biochemistry and biomedical engineering. The course then moves on to study the methods of endovascular intervention. This is done by initially studying the methods of interventions in peripheral vascular disease and carotid disease, aneurysmal disease, coagulation disorders, about the functions and effects of anticoagulants, anti-platelets, and miscellaneous vasculogenic problems. It studies the complications that come across from working on non-atherosclerotic vasculogenic problems, other common venous interventions, embolization techniques, materials, instruments, indications, contraindications, complications, and results. It also covers cardiovascular study and treatment necessities such as angioplasty techniques, materials, instruments, indications, contraindications, complications, necessities, and results. And also studies important conditions and procedures such as tumor ablation, interventions in liver disease and transplant liver surgery, interventions in renal disease and renal transplant, interventions in hypertension, interventions in bone diseases, acute stroke interventions, and interventions in acute haemorrhage. It also has an evidence-based approach and practice to understand Incidence and prevalence, the natural history of cardiovascular diseases Genetic distribution of disease Role of ultrasound, angiography, CT, MRI, MRA in screening, diagnosis, follow-up, prognosis, and planning interventions. Indications for radiological interventions and factors which contribute to decision making.

The Doctor of Medicine (DM) -Cardiovascular Imaging and Vascular Interventional Radiology is a postgraduate specialization that requires aspirants to have completed certification of medicine from a recognized state or central board of medicine. There are plenty of job opportunities to be working as an attending anesthesiologist for patients that require the diagnosis and surgery in the cases of cardiovascular diseases or deformities.
