Unlike other fields of medicine, this is a vital instrument for the application of medical expertise to solve crime-related investigation. It is also known as criminalistic. This involves the identification and collection of evidence from the suspected scene followed by its analysis without contaminating it. An autopsy is the basic and foremost tool of this discipline. Future research scope in the field also seems bright with regard to the increase in the number of autopsies. These individuals get to work closely with government officials and can get a chance to work in various investigating agencies. Though In India, it is still trying to make its place on par with other disciplines but in abroad, the scope is wide. One can even delve further into this discipline by going for research or specialization in a particular topic within forensic medicine.
