The course initially covers topics such as basic sciences that are following Obstetrics & Gynecology, obstetrics including diseases of neonates, principles, and practice of gynaecology and gynecological pathology, recent advances in obstetrics, and gynecology. It then takes up the important course required such as structure and function of the genome, clinical genetics, embryology, fetal and placental physiology, applied anatomy, pathology, microbiology and virology, biochemistry, bio physiology, endocrinology, drugs, and drug therapy, radioactivity, and X-rays, statistics and evidence-based healthcare. It the studies, obstetrics, and neonatology by focusing on topics such as prenatal care, pre conceptional counselling and prenatal care, nutrition during pregnancy, drugs and environmental, obstetric ultrasound: imaging, dating, growth, and anomaly, identification and management of early pregnancy complications like abortion, recurrent pregnancy loss, cervical incompetence, ectopic pregnancy, bad obstetric history, and other miscellaneous conditions, etc. 

The Doctor of Medicine or Master of Surgery - Obstetrics, and Gynecology is a postgraduation, medical specialization that can be taken up for the sole study of the treatment and care of female reproductive health and pregnancy. Candidates applying for these courses are required to have a minimum qualification of an MBBS certification from a recognized state or central medical board.
